Hi There!
I'm Jess, an artist working to communicate hope, healing, and change. I primarily paint contemporary abstracts and landscapes. As a self-taught artist, I hope to inspire and encourage others with my work. Painting is a way to connect with others and to express my desire for beauty and hope for a better world. Through some difficult times in my life, art has given me an outlet to express my passion and hope for something better than what I can see.
My work is intended to remind all of us not to hold too tightly to illusions of control or understanding, but to stand in awe of the world and its Creator. It also reminds us to live in the tension of storms & sunshine - while we mourn the deep losses we each experience, we still seek hope and joy.
I have five kids, so you'll see five lines in most of my work. Between making pb&j sandwiches and picking up kids from school, I find time to paint by incorporating my kids into my work and by keeping a relaxed attitude about home life and family. I hope my kids grow up creative, flexible, and hard working.
My husband, Mike, was the president of the swing dance club when we met and I had just started dancing. We danced for years and still occasionally find a moment to dance together in the midst of life’s chaos. For the time being, our partnership is more directed towards raising lots of kids, and we hope to dance and travel more in the future.
I'm glad you're here and I hope you find joy as you look at my work!
