The landscapes and seascapes I create are painted in a whimsical and abstract style to communicate that there is more to the world than what we see. These works hint at how invisible things like hope, logic, even anger, and passion, change our perception of the world around us and even have the potential to create tangible change.
 
More than any other possession, art is the one thing that brings joy to a home or workplace. Each time I look at art, I feel joy, connection, hope, and sometimes catharsis. I very much hope that my artwork does the same for you.
 
My work is about the tensions in life – about the difficulties and struggles we face – and how we respond to them. My hope is that when you are faced with your own struggle, my work will encourage you to have hope and joy. 
 
You may see in my paintings the hardness of life – the grief, sadness, anger, and hurt – while also offering the idea that there is hope for healing and growth through the struggle. It is intended to inspire you to live at peace with the complexity of a world full of storms and sunshine - while we mourn the deep loss we each experience, we still seek reasons for hope and joy.

Color nuances cannot be captured perfectly by digital media and vary from screen to screen.  Jess’ paintings are often purposely abstracted, up for interpretation.  Some markings are flawed purposefully and thus affects the nature of the artwork as a finished piece. You'll be able to enjoy the natural brushstrokes and the ability to "see" the process in the finished piece.
